May 2007 - Coleridge Bridle Way - a ride through Coleridge Country

Following the success of the Coleridge Way walking route, a challenging new horse ride linking the Quantock Hills with Exmoor was launched on 18th May. The Coleridge Bridle Way, 33 miles from Nether Stowey to Exford in the heart of Exmoor, will for the first time link two popular horse riding areas.

With the support of local landowners over 4 miles of completely new bridleway access has been opened, mainly on the Brendon Hills. The route will provide a challenging 2 or 3 day ride through a stunning variety of scenery alternating between open panoramic views and deep wooded combes. There will in the future be opportunties to stay in horse friendly accommodation and to extend your stay by linking into other published horse riding routes.

Details of the route can be found on the Bridle Way section of this website.

March 2007 - Moor Rover Bus

It covers the area around the Coleridge Way including Nether Stowey and Porlock. The bus is available every weekend and during school and national holidays. Walkers will need to book in advance and can be picked up and dropped off at agreed locations. The fare scheme is particularly advantageous for groups of 3 or more people undertaking return journeys.

Coleridge Way Trail Watchers Scheme

Would you like to join the Coleridge Way Trail Watchers Scheme and help us look after what has been described as a 'jewel in Somerset's right of way crown'?

The Trail Watchers Scheme provides an opportunity for volunteers to adopt a section of the route and help us look after it. All we ask is that trail watchers walk the section they've adopted 3 or 4 times a year and they report any problem they come across such as broken gates or stiles or missing signposts.

To find out more about this scheme visit the Somerset County Council website or contact:
