Public Transport along The Coleridge Way
Public transport services are currently limited for users of the Coleridge Way.
This section gives details of services, contact telephone numbers and web sites which may be helpful. Please contact the operators when you are planning your journey to ensure that you have the most up-to-date information available.
Although it is possible to use buses to access the start and finish of the route (and some intermediary points), this is only on certain days and at very limited times. For example you currently have to get 3 buses back from Porlock to Nether Stowey, leaving Porlock by 13.33 (Mon to Sat) and by 17.43 (Sun)
If you are staying in the area it may well be worth you asking your accommodation providers if they provide baggage transfer or can put you in touch with local taxi services to help you along the route, as many of them do.
Moor Rover
The Moor Rover is a new flexible bus service for Tourists, Walkers and Cyclists in the rural area of West Somerset and the Exmoor National Park who wish to access points along the Coleridge Way. It covers the area around the Coleridge Way including Nether Stowey and Porlock. Passengers will need to book in advance and can be picked up and dropped off at agreed locations along the Coleridge Way. Dog and bike can be transported too.

Rail Services
Regional train services stop at Bridgwater Rail Station where buses can be taken to Nether Stowey and other locations. National and regional train services stop at Taunton Rail Station. www.thetrainline.com
Bus Services
Taunton and West Somerset area bus timetables, covering all the Coleridge Way area, are available from Tourist Information Centres or at www.travelinesw.com, to plan your trip around Exmoor. Bus times are also available at www.traveline.org.uk to plan your trip to Exmoor
Places shown in bold are on, or very close to, the Coleridge Way route.
Start
(Nether Stowey):Service 14 buses (Monday to Saturday) leave from near the station in St John’s St., Bridgwater and from the Bus Station on Sundays and Bank Holidays. These buses run via Nether Stowey, at the start of the Coleridge Way, Holford, Kilve and West Quantoxhead to Watchet/Wiliton. There is a daily bus from Taunton railway station to Nether Stowey and Over Stowey, leaving Taunton at 4.45 pm.
Intermediary Points:
Service 14 as above, stopping at Holford and West Quantoxhead.
Service 28 operates daily from Taunton Rail Station to Minehead, via Bicknoller, Williton and Watchet.
Service 398 operates Monday to Saturday (not Sundays or Bank Holidays) from Minehead to Tiverton via Wheddon Cross
End to start
(Porlock to Nether Stowey):Service 39/300 operates from Porlock Weir/Lynmouth to Minehead via Porlock (39 - Monday to Saturday, except Bank Holidays; 300 all week).
Service 28 operates from Minehead to Watchet.
Service 14 operates from Watchet to Nether Stowey.
NB: to travel back from Porlock to Nether Stowey requires using the above 3 buses. You will also have to leave Porlock by 13.33 (Mon to Sat) and have a 1hr wait in Minehead, before eventually arriving in Nether Stowey by 16.10. On Sunday you can leave Porlock at 17.43, arriving in Nether Stowey by 20.44.
NB The number 14 buses run infrequently, so you will need to plan your journey accordingly.

West Somerset Railway
The West Somerset Railway runs steam and diesel trains between Bishop's Lydeard and Minehead, some of the stations are close to the Coleridge Way. It does give walkers an allternative and attractive way of returning from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard and by an onward bus service to Taunton.
